Rehearse real life in Finland, in Finnish

Each scenario has clear goals, the phrases you need and a conversation partner who reacts to you. Practise until the real thing feels familiar.

Which real-life situations can you practise in Finnish?

SimuCoach has 25 role-play scenarios based on everyday life in Finland: dealing with authorities such as Kela, DVV, Migri, the Tax Administration and the police; health situations at the health centre, pharmacy, dentist and child health clinic (neuvola); family life with school and daycare; work and job interviews; and daily tasks such as banking, renting a flat and picking up a parcel.

Each scenario lists its goals and key phrases, and the conversation partner reacts to what you actually say, so you can rehearse a call or a visit before it happens.

Questions and answers

How do I prepare for a phone call in Finnish?

Write down your goal, learn three or four key phrases and rehearse the call out loud. Useful rescue phrases are “Voisitteko puhua hitaammin?” (Could you speak more slowly?) and “Voisitteko toistaa?” (Could you repeat?). Role-playing the call first makes the real one much easier.

Can I practise a Kela or Migri visit in Finnish?

Yes. SimuCoach has scenarios for the Kela office, extending a residence permit at Migri, registering an address at DVV and getting a tax card, with the vocabulary these visits require.

Are the scenarios suitable for beginners?

Yes. The language adapts to your level from A1 to B2. Beginners get shorter sentences, more hints and phrases to choose from; advanced learners get more natural, open conversations.
